System for Crusading Orders

Post by Thracius on Fri Jul 02, 2010 7:01 pm

One wasn't incorporated in the last game, so I'd like to make one for the restart.

Pretty much this system will revolve around a different way of funding Crusader Orders, other than having land. Any ideas are welcome, I'll post my system once I've finished it.

My ideas:

Give a port town to a Crusading Order, for recruitment, and this will be able to pay for some of the expenses.

The Player could give 200,000 - 400,000 to the Order per annum.

The Order gets 200,000 - 400,000 from the Pope or other Ecclesiastical body (not out of a player pocket, but out of thin air; like trade Wink)

Yes, this would be nice. If unit prices are involved for it, they should be cheaper, down by like a tier or two. But you have to pay a certain upkeep...or something.

It goes with what I was thinking, a annual church contribution tax, as a base from all the Christian Nations, as you said it won't involve their own purse but "out of thin air" players, can donate at will, but that will be bonuses not mandatory.

And I believe in the Templar Order members gave their life to God, in other words not demanding pay from the Order, also the Knights swore an oath of poverty. So the treasury would only be paying for equipment and necessities. But this can be incorporated depending on how much base cash I'll be receiving. I will after all need to maintain knights, and other devotes.

Exactly. It's why it needs to be quite a bit cheaper than what it would be. Also, I can either make a order of the camel guild thingy, or just have a Trade caravan thing that can be built in your lands that brings us trade and brings you some Caravan units. Whaddya like better?

What if the units have no upkeep until you get past a certain point/amount, after which they start costing money?

Well we need to add some sort of cost, they soldiers won't supply their own armor or food. I like Om's idea, just reducing the costs of my troops
