Venice's original flag is already gangster enough, dunno how you will beat that.

Keep the colors Venetian Red, and a Dark Gold.
Try making it a solid Venetian Red with, with a dark gold trim on the inner outer rims, and then in the center place a crown, or broken crown since you are a republic, with a sword going through it, and bracing the crown/sword on both sides up and down Chimeras.

Can you make me a flag based around the flag of Sardinia, but replace the heads with skulls and crossbones. Make the white black, so the skull and crossbones can be white. And instead of the red cross. Have the (dark) orange going up and down, (dark, almost gold) yellow across, and in the middle the castle found on the bottom flag. It's a lot, and i won't be surprised if you say no.
