Headquarters of the Lega d'Italia

Post by Jakev2 on Mon Jul 12, 2010 6:46 pm

Duca Mauro Marciano sat in his favourite chair in the main hall of the Palazzo Ducale in Genova, his wrinkled hand on his chin. He had much to think about these past few days - suppressing the populace in his newly acquired lands to the South, sorting out a number of issues with the Lega, and, in a few months, being pronounced Granduca, by none other than his holiness, the Pope himself.

But then, he thought to himself, such is the role of a monarch. Sono troppo vecchio per queste stronzate. But alas, life must go on. The people need me, and I, in turn, need them. It wont be long now. But my son is ready, thank the lord. It brings my mind great oeace, to know that my Ducato will be left in such good, firm hands. Oh, how the boy reminds me of my father. He smiled, as he always did these past few years.

"Lucca!" he called. A small, plainly dressed man hurried to his side.

"Yes, my lord?"

"Bring me some wine. Some of the Milanese 1262, if you can find it." He looked up into the kindly face of his servant and grinned. "That ought to keep me alive for another few hours, eh?" The servant smiled, a genuine smile of admiration and adoration.

"You will outlast us all my lord." The Duca laughed, the deep wrinkles smoothing out for a few seconds.

"Ahh, I sincerely doubt it, amico. But tell me, before you go to fetch the wine, what is the news regarding the Lega?"

"Well, my lord, the Doge voted for Venezia as you expected," the Duca nodded sagely at this

"But the pirates voted for Genova, as did you. Genova will be the location of Il quartier generale della Lega d'Italia, unless you have changed your mind?"

"No, no. It is a fine, suitable city. Most wise of my father to take it, eh?"

"It is a true jewel, and it is only fitting that your grand realm should possess one of the greatest ports in the world."

"Si." The Duca walked over to the doors and flung them open, surveying the bustling port. "I do love it here, Luca. You can really smell the sea, not like Venezia, the stench of the swamp is just unbearable" He laughed again. "Thank the lord the headquarters won't be there, eh? Anyway, we are getting off the subject. We will need an architect for this building, will we not?"

"Si, Duca, I have already ordered diplomats to be sent to every nation in the known world, asking for their finest architects to come forward with a design."

"Oh, Lucca, you spoil me!" Once more, the duca chuckled to himself, the sound echoing down the corridors of the Palazzo. "I would truly be lost without you."

"I doubt it sir, your daughter, Contessa Fubini, could probably run the country single handedly."

"Vero, she is as intelligent and strong as she is beautiful. More than a match for any man in my Ducato. But again, Lucca, you make me drag on. Architects have been sent for, bene. You passed on the soecifications, I assume?"

"Si, the building must be built in a Romanesque style."

"Excellent. And now, il mio amico, we wait."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nations are requested to come forth with a design, in the Romanesque style, for the headquarters of the Lega d'Italia in the city of Genova.

The Order Presents it's Chief Guild Architect, a frenchmen by the name of Clement Urbaine

"I have searched far and wide for a Lord who's wealth could span far enough to fund my masterpiece. I present to you oh Great Duca the Chateau-de-chambord. Only a palace of this magnitude could serve host to the greatest lords of Italy."

I like it, but let the ideas flow in.

To add some competition;

This model, except wider.

Okay, well i didn't and did not know. So thanks Doyler.

Also I like it, and the Italian feel (obviously) reminds me of Assassin's Creed 2 though. Laughing

We should have something like the Duomo in Milan. Which isn't in Assassin's Creed 2, but the game reminded me of it... for some reason.

Well it's in Genova Wink

And Doyler I think that one is far too gothic, I'd much rather have a Romanesque style
