People in the North (Cooki3) probably couldn't make it to Africa unless they had many stops.

Difference. The "Vikings" had gone from Norway, to Iceland, to Greenland, to Vinland. Large difference. And they had better ships, technically.

That's what I said. Before 1880 Europeans controled little of the African continent directly. In the time we are in we'd be able to set up port outposts and extort the Natives for resources.

I never said you could not stop at places, but I am saying you should have to, and identify the places you are stopping at because most places will not accept foreigners.....

Unless you pay them off? I imagine that most kings would let you dock at their port, under close supervision of course, if you payed enough moolah.

All passage and docking shall be free to the Northerners in the ports of Lys, the Saint decrees so.

Might as well stop in Portugal next, they are seafarers, they will heed to the call of adventure and let you supply.

All nations with access to the Eastern Med (bar the Palestinians) are given acces to Fiorentini ports on the island of Sicily. There, they may resupply and repair any damage to their ships.

Palestine can use my ports, either the Catalonian port of Barcelona, or the port of Reggio di Calabria on the "toe" of the boot of Italy.

Hardly. Venice will need to know which port is to be used, as it must inform the Duke of the area, and portmaster, and organize logistical supply.
